There is nothing like the quiet beauty of snow falling gently to the earth. When enough of it falls, as it always does in Eagle River, another beauty is born: the smooth hum of a snowmobile engine. We put a lot of work into being the Snowmobile Capital of the World®. (Well, the hardest part is making the snow fall, but someone else takes care of that.) There are trails to maintain, signs to put up, races and a Championship Derby to run, and of course the Snowmobile Hall of Fame to maintain. But we certainly enjoy the benefits of the work and so will you. Ride the famous "Eagle River 500." Thanks to the efforts of numerous snowmobile clubs our area has over 500 miles of beautifully groomed trails. Our trail system is a connection of thrills and adventures snaking through awesome views and exciting terrain. This is World Class snowmobiling. You will also find that Eagle River has affordable accommodations for riders, and the hospitality is always generous. Can you see yourself turning through majestic pines, speeding across a long frozen lake, enjoying a warm drink in a friendly tavern after a long ride? We've got a snowmobile gassed up and ready for you. For the lastest Snowmobile trail conditions please call our Seasonal Hotline 715-479-5185. Check out www.SnowmobileEagleRiver.com for trail conditions.

In the winter, if you're not on a snowmobile explore the trails on your
cross-country skis or snowshoes. You won't be alone. There will be hundreds
of tracks left in the snow-and not all of them from skiers. A whitetail
deer with her fawn will be close by. Our Nation's bird, the bald eagle,
will soar to your surprise. Lace up your skates for a little ice skating
or bring your tip-ups for a relaxing day of ice fishing.

Many
local organizations and businesses are responsible

so please patronize them. Enjoy all the great

Head to the Nicolet National Forest
or the Northern Highlands American Legion State Forest
when you need to get away from it all. What you will
find is nearly a million acres of magnificent forests.
Bring binoculars and check out the variety of songbirds
that make their home in the forests. You're likely
to notice the bright, bobbing crest of a pileated
woodpecker, the high, haunting trill of a loon, or
maybe catch a glimpse of an osprey in flight. And
while you're walking, don't forget to look down-you
won't want to miss the beauty of snow-white trillium
beds and deep purple violets (Wisconsin's state flower)!
