What to Do Marathon Weekend

You’ve signed up, done the training, and you’re about to make the hike up to Eagle River for the Journeys Marathon. Sure, the race is the big event, but there’s plenty to do during your weekend up here. So no matter what you’re running, the full, the half, the 13.1 mile power walk, 10k, 5k, or kids fun run, you can have an action-packed time.

First Things First

Pick up your race packet at Northland Pines High School either the day before the race or bright and early on race day. You’re gonna need that bib number for the race, and you might need a bib for what’s next.

Carb Load

After picking up your packet, head over to the All-You-Can-Eat Spaghetti Dinner, also at the High School. Fuel up for the next day’s events with platefuls of delicious pasta.

Get Well

Visit the Health and Wellness Expo for 15 minute yoga sessions and health exhibits. You can also stock up on race-day essentials.

Warm Up

Get those muscles moving with a warm up on our miles of scenic hiking trails. You never know when you’ll get in some bird watching.

Find a Spectator Spot

Since every mile is on our “scenic route” you can catch the race and some great views of the Northwoods at the same time. Take a look at the course map and find the best place to cheer on your running buddies.

Celebrate After the Finish Line

In Eagle River we say, “Will Run For Beer” and we mean it. Celebrate your PR with a round at one of our area’s bars & grills.

Relax After Your Run

Book a relaxing spa session to help you recover from pounding the pavement. Get that lactic acid moving, stretch out those hip flexors, and get back to the training schedule.
