“It’s the Pits. “
The scene is June 1895 at the site of an archaeological dig. Queen Victoria is on the throne and Arthur “Art” E. Faxe, the eccentric Englishman has invited eight guests to participate in an archaeological “dig” at a site in ancient Mesopotamia (modern Turkey). Faxe and his guests take up residence in a picturesque military fortress, Fort Ap Aachih, along the Tigris River. Faxe is searching for fossil evidence of an ancient human or near-jhuman ancestor. Almost immediately, rumors circulate of an important archaeological “find” but excitement gives way to dismay when murder is discovered and the guests must decide who among them has committed a crime. Sign up for a part and select your costume. Light refreshments will be served. Costume suggestions and character descriptions are available at the library. Character choices are: Terra Sunder, Faxe’s daughter; Major General E. B. Sawtedd, a soldier of considerable experience and skill; Lester A. Fayre, an American railroad tycoon; Lady Mellissa N. Lynke, young heiress to the Lynke family fortune; Anne T. Ickwitee, a very modern English young Oxford Graduate participating in the dig by special invitation of Art E. Faxe; Hamilton Mactorr, English actor and producer partly financed by Arthur E. Faxe; Ashley E. Sonnyste, young English countrywoman and friend of Lady Melissa Lynke; and Conrad Iver, right-hand man of Art E. Faxe at the archaeological site.
