Family Friendly Trip

Sure, lots of families spend time in Eagle River. We’ve got families of deer, turkeys, fish, you name it. But you can see those when you and your kids come to Eagle River this summer. See what goes into the perfect family trip.

Find a Place to Call Your Own

For families big and small, it’s nice to have a place that’s all your own. Lucky for you, there’s plenty of cottages and vacation homes that can sleep the whole gang. Or you could get comfortable in one of the area’s hotels, motels or condos that are available for rent all year round.

Or… Sleep Under the Stars

If your family is a little more adventurous, look into setting up camp at one of our notable campgrounds where you can spend day and night enjoying all of the beautiful nature our area offers. Set up your site and roast marshmallows at Forest Pond Campground or tell ghost stories at Hi-Pines Eagle River Campground.

Keep Your Hands – and Minds – Busy

The whole family can have fun exploring all 24 hands-on exhibits at the Northwoods Children’s Museum. And be sure to check out the museum’s newest “Get Your Body Moving” exhibit where kids and adults can play and learn about how the human body functions. Rain or shine, the Children’s Museum is the perfect stop for family fun.

Go Wild

Take the whole crew to appreciate some of our natural attractions like Bond Falls, Chequamegon Nicolet National Forest and Sylvania Wilderness Area. Plus, you can go for a family bike ride on our various trails. There are miles of marshes, forests and sights to see – not to mention lots of wildlife that call this little slice of heaven home. Didn’t bring your bikes? No problem, just check out some of our rental facilities and saddle up.

Throw in a Little Competition

See who’s the quickest around the turns with go karting at Elmer’s Fun Park or Kartway. Or challenge one another at a friendly game of mini-golf or laser tag with a stop at Eagle Falls. And then, there’s always the classic competitions like cannon ball, fishing for the biggest catch or seeing who’s the fastest swimmer on any of our lakes.

Keep it Simple

Jump in! There are plenty of lakes to choose from for swimming, paddle boarding, kayaking, boating, waverunners or whatever else you can think of. With all those options, you really can’t go wrong when it comes to getting out on the water.

Cast a Line

See who has some reel skills when it comes to fishing. Find your spot and cast from the shoreline, off a pier or in a boat. If it’s the kiddo’s first time, teach them the fundamentals with a tour from one of our fishing guides. Not only will they show you the hot spots, they’ll let you in on all of the proper techniques and provide a few laughs along the way.
