Down to Discover: Wineries

You may not know it, but the Northwoods is home to a number of wineries. With natural scenery and plenty of space, it’s the ideal place to grow grapes and the other fruits used in the region’s wine. Venture out to experience what the whole area has to offer. Or, if you’d rather stick close, you can get a taste of great wine without ever leaving Eagle River. Here are some of our favorite spots that you should check out during your visit:

For a classic, comfortable space to share a glass of wine, pull up a chair at Mary Kate’s Wine Bar. You’ll find yourself in a cozy corner of Eagle River with high quality wine and an environment that everyone can enjoy, no matter your wine expertise. When you visit Mary Kate’s Wine Bar, you’re not just going for the wine. You’re going for the atmosphere.

You’ll of course want to visit Lake Nokomis Cranberries, where you’ll not only get a taste of their unique cranberry wine, you’ll receive the full cranberry farm experience. Start with a free tour to see the cranberry growing process, then stop by the gift shop for cute collectibles. And, of course, sample the flavorful wines created from cranberries grown right on the farm.

If you’re looking to have a bite to eat with your glass of wine, head to Bortolotti’s Cin Cin. While the bistro has authentic Italian fine dining, you can explore the large wine menu for plenty of options to satisfy. So, head over to find the perfect pairing!

Now of course, finding the best wine spots isn’t the only thing you can do in and near Eagle River. Explore the whole area, browse the shops downtown, and see what other gems you can discover!

Whether your journey keeps you close or takes you elsewhere in the Northwoods, in the evening, return to the comfort of a stay in Eagle River. And maybe another glass of wine.
