Only in Eagle River – Eddie B’s White Spruce

Almost anyone who walks into Eddie B’s White Spruce Restaurant & Tavern will get the feeling that this Eagle River restaurant is more than just a supper club. And they’d be right. The main structure is nearly 140 years old and steeped in Eagle River history.

However, it wasn’t serving up Saturday night prime rib in 1884. The White Spruce wouldn’t come to be until the 1940s and wasn’t really considered a supper club until the 1950s. Back in the late 19^th century, the log cabin was originally built by the merchant George Dickinson to be his family home. The frame house around the front gabled structure was built a year later.

Today, you can get prime rib on Saturday night. You can also get Friday fish fry, mouthwatering ribs, tantalizing pork chops, a rich beer cheese soup, and a variety of other tasty supper club staples. (Just maybe don’t try all of them in a single sitting!) Eddie B’s White Spruce Restaurant & Tavern also delivers upgrades that many Wisconsin super clubs can’t provide, like a stunning river view.

In fact, the location next to the river on the World’s Largest Chain of 28 Freshwater Lakes is why Dickinson built it in the first place. Now patrons can enjoy the sights from the outdoor patio or dining room. And unlike Dickinson, they won’t have to worry about sending goods and lumber on the water.

The bar is another great place to enjoy a classic Wisconsin cocktail like an Old Fashioned while taking in the surrounding outdoor beauty. After all, every great supper club—even one that comes with a deep history—needs to get the basics right.
