Family Attractions in Eagle River Area

Summer is for adventure. In the Eagle River area, there are too many attractions to do in just one weekend. We’ll try to mention a few of them that you and the entire family can explore on your next visit to our neck of the woods.

This Hideaway is for More than just Pirates

Nestled on the shore of Duck Lake in the Eagle River area, Pirates Hideaway welcomes many types of patrons. And believe it or not, many are not actually pirates! The former resort has transformed into a family-oriented destination that includes gorgeous gardens for walking, an expanding waterfront tiki bar with live music and elevated chain-of-lakes-view, and even a real-life pirate ship for taking to the seas.

One of the main attractions for families and children is the big pirate ship that hosts public and private tours. While the pirate ship might get the most attention on the lake, the waterfront hideaway is not-so-quietly becoming a true source for music, meals, and merriment.

Ready? Set. Action!

Sometimes the whole family needs a place to cut loose and stretch out their legs. Our little slice of heaven is bound to have exactly the space you need, from the tree tops to the track to the golf course.

The kids can do their best Tarzan and Jane impression while zipping from tree to tree with Northwoods Zipline Adventure Tours. The attraction includes ground activities, too, like ATV tours, as well as water fun, with kayak river tours. Whether it’s a canoe, kayak, or even a tube, the Wisconsin River is fun to float down. And Hawk’s Nest Outfitters has the water vessel for you and your family.

Looking to push the pedal to the metal? Elmer’s Fun Park and Kartway have options that range from go-karts to bumper cars (and boats!) to mini-golf. Eagle Falls Adventure Golf & Laser Tag brings a beautifully landscaped 18-hole mini-golf course to the table and a multi-level laser tag arena.

The avid golfer in the family will want to check out Eagle River Golf Course. It won’t be long before the entire family wants to join in after they take some pro lessons on the practice greens and driving range with target flags.

Indoor days need an activity that fuels the brain and teamwork. Northwoods Escape Room is a perfect combination that give teams an hour to piece together clues to escape.

Scenic and Informational Exploration

Speaking of escapes, the Eagle River area is known for places to simply get away. Thanks to some knowledgeable organizations, you can learn about these majestic places while you tour a facility, trail, or waterway.

Learn about some tall tales – that are actually true – at Eagle River Twisted History Tours. While the gangsters and mayhem of yesteryear are gone, their stories live on!

If natural stories are more your speed, you and the family have options that span from guided boat tours to guided trail tours on horseback. Bill’s Guide Service & Scenic Boat Tours can take the family out fishing or just to learn about some of the hundreds of gorgeous lakes in the area. Meanwhile, Rocking W Stables can give everyone a chance to connect with nature on a scenic tour while riding a horse. Families on the lookout for an in-depth education on wildlife and the environment need to visit Northwoods Wildlife Center for a public tour.
