Get a Taste of Cranberry Country at Lake Nokomis Cranberries

Ever been boggled by how cranberries are harvested? Just visit Lake Nokomis Cranberries and see how these deliciously tart berries are grown, harvested, and enjoy the fruits of the family’s labor with everything they offer on site. This family-owned, third-generation farm has grown from 50 acres to more than 320 acres and offers so much to discover.

Take a Tour

The best way to experience Lake Nokomis Cranberries is to take one of their free guided farm tours. From June to October, spend 45 minutes touring the farm, learning how cranberries are planted, cultivated, and harvested throughout the year. You’ll learn about the unique growing process, see cranberry beds up close, and discover why they flood the bogs to harvest.

If you’re expecting to see cranberries in water, think again. Despite what many people think, cranberries aren’t actually grown in water. The marshes are flooded during harvest, allowing the ripe berries to float to the surface to be gathered. So, if you’re hoping to catch that process, you’ll have to plan a fall visit.

These tours are family-friendly, rain or shine, and first come, first served, so you should arrive early to get your seat.

Sip & Shop

After all that learning and touring, head over to the gift shop for a wine tasting of local cranberry wine. The farm’s on-site winery produces award-winning cranberry wines. You can also find a variety of cranberry sauces and jams, cranberry candies, and other locally made goods.

Make a Day, or Night of It

A tour doesn’t have to be the only reason to visit Lake Nokomis. The farm hosts seasonal activities and events throughout the year. And if you’re looking to stay a little longer, you can rent the Cranberry Retreat vacation rental and sleep among the marshes.

Each October, tens of thousands of visitors flock to the Northwoods to celebrate all things cranberry. With special events, arts and crafts vendors, an antique market, entertainment, food, and of course, lots and lots of cranberries, you can get a taste of everything Eagle River has to offer. And, during Cranberry Fest, you can get a special Cranberry Fest Tour of Lake Nokomis that includes transportation from the Eagle River Area Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Center to Lake Nokomis Cranberries.
