On The Water at Eagle River
Wisconsin means “gathering place of waters” and our area is blessed with the largest concentration of freshwater lakes in the world. Vilas County has 1,318 lakes within its boundaries and neighboring Oneida County has an additional 1,129 lakes. Plus we have the World’s Largest Chain of Freshwater Lakes, the 28 lake Eagle River – Three Lakes Chain of Lakes. So grab your water skis to show off your stuff or maybe tubing is on your bucket list. If a slower pace is your style, launch or rent a pontoon boat, listen to summer tunes and just enjoy the day on the lake. Don’t forget to keep your eyes and ears alert for a soaring bald eagle, an osprey, or the call of a loon. Then if you want more adventure, go sailing on the pirate ship.
