2024 ATV/UTV Season Update:
THE VILAS COUNTY ATV/UTV TRAIL SYSTEM INCLUDING ALL STATE FUNDED TRAILS & ROUTES
TO CLOSE ON THURSDAY, OCTOBER 31, 2024, AT MIDNIGHT
The Landover ATV Club and The Lakeland ATV Club along with sponsors of the trails have put in many volunteer hours of brushing, signing, and trail maintenance. We had a great year with many trail users this past season. Vilas County has 37.3 miles of funded trails and 12.7 miles of funded routes for our residents and visitors to use. This past year saw the earliest opening of the ATV/UTV trail system to date of May 1st, giving users a whole 6 months of trail use. Trail closing at this time allows the ATV clubs time to return trails back to pre- season conditions before shared trails are turned over to the snowmobile clubs. Most of the trails in Vilas County are shared trails, and our clubs work well together in the turn-over process.
We hope that you enjoyed the County trail system this past season. None of the trails and routes would be possible without the hard work of the ATV/UTV Clubs in the County. If you haven’t yet, please join a club to help support the ATV/UTV endeavors in Vilas County. Some of the local towns in Vilas County have their roads open for year around ATV/UTV travel. Please contact the individual Towns for more information regarding which roads are open for year-round ATV/UTV travel. Please consider a trip back to enjoy our trails and thank you for supporting the economy of Vilas County!
