Your Girls’ Getaway in Eagle River

There’s a bit of misnomer that the Eagle River area is for the men. Well, we’ve got news for the misinformed: many women enjoy the same activities! It’s just one reason why Eagle River is a great place for women to go on a girls’ getaway.

In addition to fishing, ATVing, snowmobiling, and other outdoorsy activities, the Eagle River area accommodates a variety of female favorites. We have wine. We have shopping. We have spas. And, not to brag, we have some really great events for women.

In short, no matter what type of getaway you and your girlfriends want, there’s a good chance the Eagle River area has just what you’re looking for. Here are some of the options that await in our neck of the woods.

Every Reason to Wine

While our neck of the woods is known more for cranberries than grapes, it doesn’t stop us from having some topflight wine options. The annual Sip-N-Shop Wine Walk is one of the downtown’s biggest draws each summer. And the Wi-Does Wine Walk is a popular downtown event during the gun hunt deer opener every fall.

But you don’t need to wait for an event to sit down for a fine wine with your best friends. Mary Kate’s Wine Bar is a cozy and welcoming spot to sample and enjoy incredible wine. It’s elevated, yet approachable ambiance provides the perfect spot to unwind after wrapping up an afternoon of shopping in downtown Eagle River. And on the north side of Eagle River, Bortolotti’s Cin Cin Wine Bar & Bistro has a large wine selection—from big reds to crisp whites—that pairs perfectly with its fresh Italian menu.

If you’re more of a beer maiden, Andy’s Pontoon Saloon is a new beer garden on the corner of Wall and First streets in downtown Eagle River. Have a drink on the boat or enjoy some free beer yoga at 11 a.m. Saturday morning.

Downtown Restaurants & Shopping

The vibrant and growing downtown has unique shops and one-of-a-kind restaurants perfect for any girls’ trip. Since 2020, downtown Eagle River has transitioned into new owners, fresh shops, and has quickly become a must-walk destination.

There are some downtown staples like Arrow Gift Shop, which has procured quality gifts and souvenirs for tourists and locals alike for more than 40 years. Then there’s Grandma’s Toy Box, which features educational games, puzzles, and toys for children and adults. If you need materials for your next fiber arts project, stop at Shepherd’s Wool to pick up some stitchery, wool fabric, rug braiding, needle felting, or take a class. If you’re looking to unwind at home, visit locally owned and family operated Splash Soap Company to get handmade soaps, natural skin care, and bath care products.

When it comes to restaurants, there are too many great options for a girls’ trip to list them all here. For breakfast or lunch, a women-owned business like Toad in the Hole is a great option; this cozy 20-seat diner serves up phenomenal food and fun vibes. For drinks and fun after lunch or dinner, consider Mary Kate’s Wine Bar or LP’s Pizza and Pasta. For a modern feel that incorporates a Northwoods theme, check out The Craftsman American Tavern.

There’s no shortage of shopping or dining options on your next girls’ trip in downtown Eagle River.

Get Pampered

There’s many ways to get pampered, depending on the person. But just because we get our nails dirty from time to time up here doesn’t mean we don’t clean and maintain them too.

Salon & Spa on Railroad Street is an Aveda salon that is more than a full-service hair shop, it’s a true spa that offers manicures, pedicures, facials, and more. Its downtown location makes it easy to hop in and out of other fun downtown activities. Botox Beauty Spa offers more than just botox treatments at its downtown location; it also has IV vitamins and therapy, red light therapy, and ionic foot baths, among other treatments. Beyond the downtown area, Kneaded Relief provides a range of massage therapies. From sports massage and Swedish massage to hot rocks and neuromuscular treatments, Kneaded Relief is a great place to relax.

And—oh yeah—Outdoors

Of course, if you and the girls want to go biking on the trails or spend a weekend at the lake, we’ve got that. The World’s Largest Chain of Freshwater Lakes is a great place to start. And don’t worry about towing a boat Up North. We’ve got the places to rent a pontoon boat, like The Toy Shop of Eagle River. You can even take a relaxing float down the Wisconsin River with your gal pals on tubes from Hawk’s Nest Outfitters.
