It’s that magical time of year when our quaint little slice of heaven transforms into a spectacle of oranges, reds, and yellows bringing in leaf peepers like yourselves. But even with people flocking to see the beautiful Northwoods fall colors, don’t worry, there’s no shortage of trees to see. So, rally your friends, pack some snacks, check out the fall color report, and take a memorable fall drive through the Northwoods.
Just a 45-minute drive north on Hwy 45 will take you to Bond Falls for a picturesque fall day. See the waterfall surrounded by vibrant leaves and spend the day hiking beneath the canopies. Then head west to Copper Peak for a tree-top view atop a 469-foot old ski jump where you can see Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Lake Superior.
If you’re not looking for stops and just want to hit the road, take a look at our full-day driving tour that takes you through Boulder Junction, to the shores of Lake Superior, Porcupine Mountains State Park and more. While your eyes are on the trees, don’t forget to look out for bald eagles too.
When you head back to the Eagle River area you can still take in the best of fall colors by hiking, biking, and exploring our many forested trails, hoping on an ATV or UTV and taking some of our scenic routes, or simply take it all in while relaxing by the water. There’s no wrong way to do fall when you’re in Eagle River.
