What to do in Winter

Well, with all of the area trails and routes, we’ve got plenty of action-packed fun, we are the Snowmobile Capital of the World® after all. But, if you’re looking for a little more relaxed way to spend your winter getaway, we’ve got that covered too.

Shop Till You Drop

Hey, the holidays are right around the corner anyway, so save yourself some time by checking off your lists and picking up yourself a little something too.

For the kids: there’s every toy you could imagine for the kiddos at Grandma’s Toy Box and treats they’ll love at Country Store of Eagle River, Arrow Gift Shop, and Eagle Craft & Hobby.

For a unique find: stop in for home goods, local treasures and fine jewelry at the Moccasin Shop & Gifts, Fredrick’s Corner Shoppe, and Lehner & Stephan Jewelers.

Hit the Trails

Cross-Country Ski: Get your heart pumping on miles and miles of beautiful snow-covered trails. Some are groomed and some are not, so make sure to take a look at your map before heading out.

Fat-Tire Bike: Bike year-round and get a feel for the different terrains each season brings to our area by taking part of the fat-tire biking trend. There are a number of trails for you to try out.

Snowmobile: With events, well-groomed trails, classes, markers and plenty of friendly experienced riders, it’s no wonder we’ve earned the title of Snowmobile Capital of the World®. Learn more about our trail passes and regulations here and don’t forget to check trial conditions before heading out.

Snowshoe: Be the first out on the powder and make your mark by snowshoeing. Don’t have your own pair? No worries, we have numerous recreational stores to buy or rent from.

Go for a Swim

No, not in one of our lakes. At one of our resort’s pools. Stay at a hotel or resort with an indoor pool and soak away those winter blues. Plus, you can cure the kid’s cabin fever after just a few cannonballs into the deep end.

Grab a Bite

Breakfast and Brunch: It is the most important meal of the day, so why not make it a priority? Get fresh coffee and delicious dishes while you relax at Eagle River Roasters,  Leif’s Café, or Friendship House Family Restaurant.

Date Night: Treat your date to a delicious dinner and awesome atmosphere at our hidden jewel The Blue Heron or classic and cozy at Eagle Waters Resort or Pitlik’s Sand Beach Resort. Why not make date night a whole weekend? See our Couple’s Getaway Itinerary.

Casual Dining: Sure, the whole area is pretty laid back, but when you’re really looking to get some good grub without the fancy attire, snag a stool at Buckshot’s.

Local’s Favorites: We’re a pretty friendly bunch around here, so when it comes to sharing, we don’t mind dishing out our secret local favorites for everyone to enjoy. Get a rack of ribs at Eddie B’s White Spruce Restaurant & Tavern, or eat like you’re a member of the family at Friendship House Family Restaurant.

Taste the World: Yeah, we may be tucked up in northern Wisconsin, but that doesn’t mean we’re all beers and brats all of the time. Get the taste of Italy with wine and tapas at Bortolotti’s Cin Cin Wine Bar & Bistro.
