Looking for that perfect summer beer? Well, get your lederhosen and pretzel necklaces ready for June 11, because we’ve got the perfect place for you to find it – the Up North Beerfest.
Formerly known as the Great Northern Beer Festival, the 2016 event will still deliver many of your favorite craft beers, as well as a wide assortment of new brews served in a commemorative Up North Beerfest sampler glass. More than 30 breweries are participating in the 4-hour festival at the Hi-Pines Campground in Eagle River.
The focus of any craft beer festival is the beer, as it should be. But the beauty of the Up North Beerfest is the setting. Literally. The old-growth woodlands surrounding the festival really make this craft beer festival experience unique. When you add in live music from the nine-piece band People’s Choice and sprinkle in some fun outdoor games, the festival takes on a unique camping trip-meets-tailgate feel. You’re likely to make a new friend.
Festivalgoers will recognize a few of the big names in the craft brewing world at the festival. In addition to award-winning regional brewers, the Up North Beerfest features several smaller brewers from the immediate Northwoods area. Be sure to get samples from Tribute Brewing Company, which brews its Blueberry Train Wheat Beer right here in Eagle River, and the Minocqua Brewing Company, located only 30 miles down the road. Now is your chance to give their suds a try, if you haven’t already.
Since that pretzel necklace you’re going to wear probably won’t be enough food for the duration of the festival, the Eagle River Jaycees will keep you covered with an assortment of food for purchase. And because we care about you getting home safe, free bus shuttles will be running from the festival to many of area hotels and motels.
So if you’re thinking about visiting us in the Eagle River area this summer for fishing, water sports, hiking or biking, consider doing it around that second weekend in June. It just might be where you discover your summer beer.
